Installing the QEHS Certificate: Instructions for Laptops
To be able to use search engines on your school laptop, you will need to install a certificate.
Technical reason: Safe searches are now enforced through our Internet gateway and a self-signed certificate is required to do this. It also means that filter lists work regardless of whether sites use http or https.
Chrome and Internet Explorer
- Download and open the certificate.
- Click on the <Install Certificate> button.
- Choose <Next> in the Certificate Import Wizard.
- At the next stage choose the non-default “Place all certificates in the following store” option.
- Browse and choose the “Trusted Root Certification Authorities” option. (screenshot)
- Click on <Next>
- Click on <Finish>
- The new certificate details should be displayed. Click on <Yes> to install the certificate.
- Restart the browser.
