ESU Mace The QEHS team will progress to the second round of the ESU Mace debating competition. Lola S, Adam R and Sophie J debated against the introduction of a four day school week. The team saw off strong competition from Dame Allan’s School and KEVI successfully securing a place in the second round. Congratulations to Lola, Adam and Sophie
Yesterday we travelled to Ovingham for the first round of the English Schools Cross Country. The weather was fantastic compared to the torrential conditions of last year. This is an individual event with the top 16 qualifying for the next round in January at Temple Park. We had some fantastic results across both schools with 37 out of 50 students

Working in collaboration with Northumberland Inclusive Education Services (LINT), QEHS welcomed Refugee Education UK this week as they met with Ukrainian pupils and their families living in Northumberland. Ukrainian pupils across the county were invited with their families to attend an individual careers session with an education consultant from Refugee Education UK, exploring their future education plans and possible routes

5 Teams from HMS and QEHS travelled to the Regional finals of the schools cup cross country. This event was held at Stewart Park in Middlesborough. This saw the best teams from Northumberland, Durham, Cleveland and North Yorkshire competing for three qualifying places in the national final which will be held in Leeds this year. Last weekend, QEHS rowers attended Durham Head, the last of the Long Distance Sculling races of the autumn season. It was a day of very close races, with Seth achieving the only QEHS win of the day in the j18 singles. However, there were a lot of close 2nd places and lots of impressive racing across the board. Politics and Photography students enjoyed a workshop today run by David Campbell from the VII Foundation. The Foundation educates photographers on how to be ethical and safe when documenting dangerous situations (for example, wars and riots). He talked us through a history of photojournalism and then showed us footage of the Storming of the Capitol in 2021, describing the experience
