Y11 and Y13 Studying Climate Change

In the last half term, Year 11 and Year 13 students took part in the Royal Meteorological Society’s “Conference of the Parties” simulation activity. Junior Mentors!

A group of Year 9 students have now completed a Peer Mentor training programme and achieved AQA Peer Mentoring and AQA Safeguarding & Disclosure accreditation. The training was designed and delivered in conjunction with the Northumbria Healthcare Trust ‘Be You’ team. Peer Mentors provide important support to other Year 9 students, helping them to overcome wellbeing issues related to friendships

Y10/11: Interested in a career in STEM?

There is a Virtual Routes into STEM Course (External URL) course this month – the applications are open until the end of this week, 21st May. This is open to any student interested in studying a Science or Maths related subject at degree level. (STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Y9 Political Literacy

Our Year 9 students have been studying ‘Political Literacy’ using resources from Shout Out UK. This was sponsored by NAPO (the trade union and professional association that represents probation staff). Today we were joined in class (virtually) by Katie Lomas (National Chair for NAPO). Year 9 classes 9KAD, 9HAM and 9WPY are raising money for Cancer Research UK. The three form classes have decided to walk every morning during form time in order to reach the goal of 10,000 steps – the first form to 10,000 steps wins.
