Students had an action packed last day in Iceland on Sunday. The first stop was a visit to the Lava museum to learn about Icelands unique geology. They then visited the three natural wonders on the Golden Circle. The Geysir hot springs include one named Strokkur which shoots water 30m up into the air. Gullfoss waterfall was next on the tour which is one of the most photographed waterfalls in Iceland. The final stop was Þingvellir (Thingvellir) national park. Students learned about the Icelandic parliament which was established in 930AD. The site straddles the Mid-Atlantic Ridge; its rift valley forming where the Eurasian and North American tectonic plates pull apart.
Students then headed back to Reykjavik to do some shopping before having some dinner ahead of their early morning flight back home.
