Students had a great day in Iceland yesterday. In the morning, they visited an oceanside geothermal lagoon followed by a walk through an ancient lava tunnel to see the inner workings of a lava tube. After lunch they visited the village of Hveragerði and walked up to see some more hot springs. Their last stop was a visit to a geothermal power plant where they learned how Iceland harnesses the power of tectonic activity to produce electricity and hot water for the country. Just like most of the UK, we were given a spectacular show from the Aurora Borealis throughout the evening.
