This morning, Year 12 listened to a former student, Charles Race, pass on his advice about making the most of opportunities and using experience to learn about strengths and interests. Charles did an excellent job of reassuring the students they shouldn’t worry about their futures but just make the most of what’s available to them now. Charles is keen to promote the benefits of higher education and invited Jen Barton from Durham University to give a brief overview of the extensive range of opportunities, both academic and extra-curricular, available at Durham, as well as the financial scholarships available, particularly to disadvantaged students.
We hope the students are excited to be starting Year 12 and that they sign up for clubs, societies and voluntary positions at this Friday’s Freshers’ Fair.
