Year 11 students are heading to Morocco this week for their school challenge expedition. A few weeks ago, they had a very wet and muddy practice walk up Blencathra in the Lake District! Views from the summit were underwhelming as we could not see a thing! Conditions will be VERY different from this on their 4-day trek in the Atlas Mountains!
Back in 2018 a group laid pipes from a spring to get drinking water to the village, then in 2019 the group built the foundation for the drinking water reservoir, so this year we are going to try and repair the damage to the system done by the earthquake in 2023. We’ll only be able to make a start during our short stay but the money we’ve raised will mean the village have the resources to complete the work after we’ve gone.
Students are looking forward to their building project in the village of Tachedirt where they will be getting their hands dirty and getting to know the locals embracing village life 2314m high in the mountains!
