Congratulations to Kay Adamson and Alex Barrass who both competed in recent competitions held by the Northumbrian Pipers’ Society. The event was held via YouTube and, as it was not restricted by geography, goes down in history as the first World Championship! Entries poured in, not only from the UK but from America and Canada. Judges were Kathryn Tickell OBE, Alistair Anderson and Andy May.
Alex was awarded first place in a hotly contested field, and Kay received second place. Both students also entered the Duet category, taking third place with a slick, inspiring set of their own arrangement.
QEHS students can learn the Northumbrian Pipes from scratch – on Friday evenings after school.
