Queen Elizabeth High School has a strong sporting ethos, with rowing accessed by students through the school’s extra-curricular activities programme. The rowing club has an excellent reputation, with training facilities on site and very good boat storage with water access at Tyne Green Country Park, Hexham.  

As a result of an expanding membership, the school is seeking to appoint an enthusiastic and flexible Rowing Coach on a casual basis.  The role of the coach will be to work with individuals and groups aged 13 to 19 to support them in achieving their sporting goals, as well as to fulfil other reasonable duties as requested, ensuring compliance with RowSafe guidance.

This is a great opportunity for someone looking for experience of life in a school before undertaking a PGCE or equivalent, or those looking for employment whilst at university, or who have just left, perhaps managing this position alongside another job role.  Or, you may simply wish to pursue your own interest in rowing.  Eitherway, it is essential that the successful candidate will have a genuine passion for rowing and be expected to have a high level of rowing knowledge (either as a coach and/or through experience as an athlete).  The successful candidate will possess the drive and enthusiasm to build on the recent accomplishments of the rowing club and be willing to contribute fully to the life of the club, including running evening rowing sessions, weekend events, fixtures, and trips and coaching outside of term time.

This is a new role in our organisation but it will be fully supported by the Club Leader and the large number of committed parent volunteers who assist in the administration and smooth running of the club.

Catering – We are looking for self-motivated, well-organised and enthusiastic people to join our catering team to assist in the preparation and serving of meals and refreshments to students and staff. Working as part of a team is key to this role and a level of flexibility is also required. We have variable contracts between 5 and 16.25 hours per week with the possibility of overtime. The core hours of work are between 9:30am and 2:30pm during term time only with 1 plus day to be done during the holidays. The rate of pay is £11.60 an hour.

Cleaner – We are looking for self-motivated and well organised people to join our site team as cleaning staff. Responsibilities can include sweeping, mopping, vacuuming and emptying bins and to clean designated areas such as toilets, classrooms and corridors. The rate of pay is £11.60 an hour and the hours of work can be variable.
