On 24 February 2020, the Tynedale Lions held their Young People’s Excellence Awards at the Beaumont Hotel in Hexham. The Lions invited nominations of young people for these awards and received 19 applications, most of which came from QEHS and Hexham Middle School. Out of all of the nominations, the Lions chose four of our students to receive the awards:
- Katie Chomse, for achievements in cricket including her inclusion in Durham CCC’s elite squad (14-21) and representing Durham CCC in the Gulf Cup in Dubai.
- Lizzie Scott, for achievements in cricket including playing for Northumberland CCC, representing Durham CCC in the Gulf Cup in Dubai, and representing the England Women’s Academy team against an ICC Global XI.
- Heni Pisarevic, for achievements in music including G8 piano and G5 pedal harp as well as gaining a place at the Centre for Advanced Training at The Sage.
- Zara Naughton, for achievements in golf including being a member of the North of England Regional Elite U18 squad; Zara has also been selected for the National England U16 team.
The four winners each received £500 to support their ongoing process. Congratulations to all involved!
