Arts Award Film At The Forum:
Jessie Elliott, one of our Sixth Form students from the Arts Award Gold programme, has produced and directed a short samurai film, ‘To Lose Is To Gain’ (description below!), as part of her leadership project. This film is created entirely by QEHS students. The screening of this will be shown at the Forum on Tuesday 13th July at 7:30pm and on our QEHStival website: https://wpym14.wixsite.com/qehstival. Tickets for the (world premiere!) at The Forum are available at: https://forumhexham.com/ForumHexham.dll/WhatsOn?Film=13765595 (External URL). The evening at the Forum, entitled ‘Night of the Samurai’, is a collaborative cinema event between Arts Award students at Queen Elizabeth High School and The Forum Cinema. This special event not only contains the screening of the short film ‘To Lose Is To Gain’ but also a screening of 47 Ronin starring Keanu Reeves.
If you’d like to know more about To Lose Is To Gain:
“After the vicious murder of his master, a lone Samurai – now a Ronin – hunts down the shinobi responsible for the deed, in the hopes of retrieving a letter that will prevent the assassination of the reigning Shogun.”
Online Arts Festival, QEHStival:
This is the first year of our new online festival, #QEHStival, which celebrates the work of our QEHS Arts Award students. The students have produced amazing and varied works of art from a table that lights up in the dark to a giant mushroom stage design.
Please do get involved by visiting the website (external URL) and then buying tickets (external URL) to ‘Night of the Samurai’ at the Forum. We welcome reviews and comments on the pieces.
