Yesterday morning the exchange students experienced life in a German grammar school, attending lessons with their host partners. The group then visited the town hall, where they were met with a warm welcome, as ever, by highly popular mayor Klaus Besser, who had purchased a Union Jack and had it raised outside the town hall building in our honour.

Year 11 and Year 13 German students have enjoyed their first full day in Germany. After a tour of Bielefeld taking in views of the city from the Sparrenburg castle, Year 11 sampled Currywurst and ice cream before their return to school to meet partners for lunch. A late afternoon trip then ensued to the Dr Oetker factory, where they were joined by the 8 Year 13 students who had spent their first day on work placements with the mayor of Steinhagen, Klaus Besser, at a local newspaper, a travel agency and with two manufacturing companies.
